Project Rationale

In terms of typography, I went for a contrast between the headings of the information (in sans-serif font) and the body text (in serif font). There was a lot of text that had to be included in one spread so the pages above show a good example of how I solved this problem by breaking up the text into smaller, more readable sections. I included the use of negative space to help break up the sections even further and not make the information look to daunting to read through during the Symposium.

These Showcase Session pages needed to convey information fast enough for professors attending the Symposium to glean as much information as they feel they need. Whether a professor wants a more detailed description or a short summary, this composition of images and text fits any need.

I was allowed more freedom on other pages such as the ones in the spread pictured below. I was given flexibility to do what in terms of color and organization, so I went for a colorful, fun info graphic to display how our office supports faculty. I wanted the other page to reflect a wider color palette than the rest of the booklet as well to break up the monotony of the previous professional look with more eye-catching spreads toward the end of the booklet.
